Episode 268: I’m Talkin. . .Echo
I’m talking episode 268 for June 4th, 2023.
This is Joel from the I’m talking microcast, where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week.
This week we’re talking echo.
Echo is one of those little words with a big meaning.
I was thinking back, I don’t know if I remember the first time I experienced echo.
I do remember experiencing it, but I remember maybe experiencing it for the first time with my granddaughter and seeing the look on her face when she hears the world, the universe, the expanse answer back to her the same thing that she just said.
It is quite an amazing experience.
You think about it, it’s hard even as an adult when you are in an environment that provides an echo to not take advantage of it.
You say things, you yell certain things.
At some point as a kid, you always say, are you copying me?
and the universe answers back.
Are you copying me?
and it just does something to their psyche.
It’s fun to watch.
Most often when we talk of the word echo, we are thinking of that experience in a vast land and a mountain, almost a mountaintop experience where you have to have a canyon or something that will reverberate your sound back to you.
It’s quite amazing, but in our world, we actually have tiny uses for it that are just as amazing.
When you think of ultrasound, that’s really just an echo of a sound being sent into the womb of a woman and then returning the sounds, the things that it hits.
We get to see in some form a precious growing baby that will one day hold in our arms.
As we get older and we do other medical things, I thought of the echo cardiogram.
It’s right there in the name.
It echoes what your heart is doing.
That is so important for ongoing health and well-being as you go through your life.
But therein also lies the challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.
As a Christian, whom do we echo?
That is the question that should be at the front of our minds.
Do we have a heart for Jesus Christ?
If we had a spiritual echocardiogram, would the resounding results say Jesus?
I think when I was listening to Chuck Swindoll, he said, would I bleed biblion?
Would that be my blood type?
I think that’s the idea of an echo.
It’s like, what do we echo?
Who do we echo?
And how do we echo?
We don’t echo God unless we spend time with him.
We can’t echo God unless we spend time in his word.
And what a great thing to hear from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, when we echo him for him to return.
Are you copying me?
Until next time, this is Joel from the I’m Talking Microcast.
