Episode 335: I’m Talkin. . .Hearing

I’m talking episode 335 for September 15th, 2024.

This is Joel from the I’m talking microcast, where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week.

This week we’re talking hearing.

So this is my second week doing a word that is quite basic.

I think last week I did purchase.

Today I’m doing hearing.

Some of that is based on the fact that my family says that my hearing is going.

And, and so that has been on my mind a little bit and, you know, as part of the problem that we have in America is maybe not so much with hearing, but with listening or to comprehend, or maybe hearing at all is a problem because we are often on opposite sides of topics, for instance, and we don’t want to hear what the other side has to say.

So hearing is related to interest and to what we may want to hear, whether the other person is on our side or not on our side, those things.

And then, as I mentioned, also hearing can be related to just the audio sense of words or music or sound coming clearly through your ears, and that can be related to age.

Regardless of how you want to look at hearing, both of those situations create a challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.

So one of the challenges that you have if you struggle with hearing is when you go to church, there are times where you may, I don’t know, tune out the things that are happening because it’s too hard to hear.

You’re not fully understanding the message because you’re missing portions of it, those kind of things.

And so that is something to be aware of.

And taking action in those times so that you can hear the message will make church that more enjoyable for us.

And then the other side of that is the responsibility of hearing at all, to be tuned into a message that is being provided, to be tuned into what God wants you to hear when you are at church.

And then we have the added responsibility of passing that information on to those around us who sometimes who are Christians, where we’re all trying to help each other grow.

Sometimes non-Christians where we’re trying to share with them who Jesus Christ is, because the Bible says, how are people going to know if they don’t hear and how are they going to hear if someone doesn’t tell them?

And so sometimes the world will tune us out.

They don’t want to hear.

But other times they may.

They may find themselves in a situation where they have no hope and they want to hear.

They may find themselves in a situation where they feel lost.

They may want to hear.

And in doing so, as Christians, we hear and apply.

And as non-Christians, they may hear if they want to and apply.

But either way, we have to be ready to speak and we have to understand the truth of what we believe after having spent time hearing it from others and applying it to our own lives.

Until next week, this is Joel from the I’m Talking Microcast.

I’ll see you next week.
