Episode 353: I’m Talkin…Word

I’m Talking, episode 353 for January 19th, 2025.

This is Joel from the I’m Talking Microcast, where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week.

This week, we’re talking Word.

So when I was thinking about the word Word, it obviously comes from a Bible verse.

That’s what I’m doing this year.

It’s from John 1 14.

I’ll talk about that verse in a minute, but I was thinking in the world, we used to, years back, use this as a slang and, and someone would say something and you would say Word, like that’s the truth.

Like the person is speaking the absolute truth.

I’m not sure that’s used anymore, but it is an interesting use of the word when it comes to how we look at it as Christians.

So the challenge for us as Christians is to use the word Word and its proper sense and what it means.

And in John 1 14, it says, so the Word became human and made his home among us.

He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness, and we saw his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

So what does that mean?

The Word became human.

Much as in the slang of days past, Word in this sense means truth.

It means this is the essence of what God is and who God is and what he said.

And the reality, I’d say that way too much.

And the cool thing is that God put flesh on his son, the very creator of the universe, the one who with the word of his mouth, put all things into existence.

And he came with flesh on to be an example.

It says the Word became human.

The absolute truth of God, the absolute power of the spoken word of God became human as an example to us.

Not because God didn’t know what it was like to be human because he created us, but so that we could know that even in our human form, there was perfection to be sought after that we had an example of a human person who was both a hundred percent God and a hundred percent human, the Word of God who became human.

So we could have an example to live up to.

So we would know what it is to live the word of truth.

We would know what it is to follow the Word of God.

And that is the challenge that we have from that verse in John 1, 14.

And we see how great God’s love for us was as that he sent his word to become human.

Until next week, this is Joel from the I’m talking microcast.
