Episode 381: I’m Talkin…Acknowledge
I’m Talkin, episode 381 for August 3rd, 2025.
This is Joel from the I’m Talkin microcast, where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week.
This week we’re talking acknowledge.
Acknowledge is kind of an interesting word.
I’m trying to think, you know, I don’t know when the last time I used it, but it’s not necessarily an uncommon word.
And it made me think that, you know, people want to be acknowledged for things that they do, things they make, some kind of accomplishment.
And then I realized that sometimes we don’t acknowledge things that we should, when we should give them credit, when we should lift them up and tell them they did a good job.
And I think that sometimes we ignore accomplishments by not acknowledging their existence.
And then the other thing I thought is in today’s world, sometimes we don’t acknowledge things that we don’t believe to be true.
But just because we don’t acknowledge it doesn’t mean that it isn’t in fact true.
And therein lies the challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.
So today’s word comes from Psalm 100 verses one through five, which says, Shout with joy to the Lord all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness.
Come before him singing with joy.
Acknowledge that the Lord is God.
He made us and we are his.
We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving.
Go into his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good.
His unfailing love continues forever and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
So there’s a lot that goes into those set of verses.
In fact, I may spend a couple of podcasts on it.
So you can expect more from those verses next week.
But the one thing it says is acknowledge that the Lord is God.
And that’s what I was getting at.
Just because people don’t want to acknowledge it doesn’t mean that it’s not true.
The cool thing as a Christian is I believe it’s true.
So it’s easy for me to acknowledge that the Lord is God and that he made me and I belong to him.
But the world doesn’t look at it that way.
The world wants to live its own truth, not the truth from the scriptures.
But the one thing that the world can’t do is it can’t shake our belief in who God is and what he says.
We have to acknowledge the truth of the scripture.
We have to acknowledge the rules, the order, the beauty, the creative nature of our God and the things that he set forth for how we’re supposed to live.
And in these verses that I’m working through right now, it’s how we praise God.
And so we stand on the promises that God has made in his word, which makes it easier for us to acknowledge God and to come before him, giving him praise, singing with joy, shout with joy to the earth.
Nope, sorry.
Shout with joy to the world, all the earth.
Nope.
Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth.
That’s a command for everybody, even those who don’t acknowledge God.
So we as Christians need to lead that worship.
Until next week, this is Joel from the I’m Talking microcast.
