Episode 382: I’m Talkin…Continue
I’m Talkin, episode 382 for August 10th, 2025.
This is Joel from the I’m Talkin microcast, where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week.
This week we’re talking continue.
Continue is a fairly simple word and people understand what it means.
It means to carry on.
And so there’s things that we think about, at least I think about, with the word continue.
And some of those are good things, like things we want to continue to do, things that move us in a direction we want to move.
And then there are other things that we want to stop doing, that we don’t want to continue.
And we might call those bad things.
And so in that we’re looking for change, and we’re looking for movement, and we’re looking for something to continue making us better people, to continue making us more attractive to people in our world, to continue to lead a life that is pleasing and pleasant.
And therein lies the challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.
As a Christian, when it comes to the word continue, sometimes, even as people, just regular people, we’re not super good at that.
We continue to do things we don’t want to do, even in the midst of continuing to do things that we want to do.
But it’s a change that often happens in us, and sometimes we feel out of our control, but something also that we have to work at.
So this week’s word comes again from Psalm 100, verses 1 through 5, that says, Shout to the Lord with joy all the earth.
Worship Him with gladness.
Come before Him singing with joy.
Acknowledge that the Lord is God.
He made us, and we are His.
We are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving.
Come into His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For the Lord is good.
His unfailing love continues forever, and His faithfulness continues to each generation.
So you see that in God’s character, the word continue is part of who He is.
He doesn’t have to change.
In fact, He cannot change.
He is not capable of doing wrong, so He doesn’t have to continue to learn how to not do that.
But we see in His character there are two things that the verses mention.
One is His unfailing love continues forever.
And so that’s never ending, never changing, never stopping.
And then it says His faithfulness continues to each generation.
So while we change, and while generationally we may change, God’s character to love and be faithful to His people does not change.
And it’s not dependent on me and whether I continue to do wrong or to do right or to not change or to change.
It’s all based on His ability and His nature and His character that change is never possible, and He will continue.
Until next week, this is Joel from the I’m Talking Microcast.
