Episode 383: I’m Talkin…Sing
I’m Talkin’, episode 383 for August 17, 2025.
This is Joel from the I’m Talkin’ microcast, where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week.
This week, we’re talking singing.
So singing is an interesting word.
Most people maybe don’t think about that word and think more about music or something like that.
And some people don’t like to sing because they don’t think they can, but even those people sing somewhere, even if it’s not out loud.
And so in that sense, singing becomes kind of important.
And we know those who are good at it, who will sing well, can often be some of the well-known, most well-known celebrities of our time.
And so I think as a concept to the world, singing is right up there with sport.
And therein lies the challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.
So today’s word comes from Psalm 150, verse 6, that says, Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord.
Praise the Lord.
So we are challenged to sing by God himself.
It doesn’t matter if we like the sound of our voice, if we think we’re good at it or not.
God wants to hear us sing.
There’s been a number of verses just over the last couple weeks that we talk about.
Sing with joy to the Lord.
We talk about the Lord is my strength and my song.
So he gives us something to sing about.
And it’s good to do that.
It’s good to praise God with our voices as we sing.
And God puts that in us.
He puts that deep within us when we are his children to sing praises to him.
So he’s not looking for the perfect voice.
He’s not looking for the most melodic song that you can think of.
He’s looking for a heart that wants to sing his praises.
He’s looking for a heart that says, this is my God and I will praise him.
This is my Father’s God and I will exalt him.
A verse from just a few weeks back.
And so it’s cool that God knows our talent.
He knows who we are.
He wants our hearts and he wants us to sing.
