Episode 395: I’m Talkin…Peaceful
I’m Talkin, episode 395 for November 7th, 2025.
This is Joel from the I’m Talkin microcast, where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week.
This week, we’re talking peaceful.
Peaceful is such a great word, I think maybe because we find it hard to grasp, but it’s what we want.
And, you know, in the simplicity of it, it just means to be full of peace.
And that is something that the world is after, especially in the chaotic times in which we exist.
And so we spend time maybe even trying to chase it.
How do we find it?
And if we do happen to stumble on it, how do we keep it?
How do we remain in a peaceful environment, a peaceful situation?
And when we find it, does the source remain stable?
Or does it change?
And then we’re chasing it all over again.
And then we find ourselves in the opposite mode of peaceful, which is turmoil.
And therein lies the challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.
So today’s word comes from Psalm 23, verse 2.
It says, He lets me rest in green meadows.
He leads me beside peaceful streams.
So as Christians, that’s what we want.
But the thing is that it says God provides that.
He leads us beside peaceful streams.
And what does that look like?
And how does that happen?
It’s really interesting language because it says the streams are peaceful.
But you know that when you find a peaceful environment, that it leads to you being peaceful as well.
So he really is giving us an opportunity to be full of peace, to be in the presence of God and restful, to be unencumbered by the world, to be out of the turmoil, out of the rat race, to turn things over to God and rest by the streams along which he leads us.
And it sounds so nice to be there.
And we have to recognize that God will keep his promises.
And when we trust God to keep his promises, that helps us to remain in God’s peaceful environment.
It helps us to remain peaceful and to provide that to the world in which we live.
It helps people to want to be around us because we seem to be at peace with whatever is going on in our lives.
And it’s not seems to be.
We actually are because of the power of the Holy Spirit that God has provided through his son, Jesus Christ, death on the cross and his resurrection.
He went to be with the father and since the advocate that is the Holy Spirit to be with us full time.
And that allows us to be peaceful until next week.
