Episode 399: I’m Talkin…Presence
I’m talking episode 399 for December 7th, 2025.
This is Joel from the I’m Talking microcast where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week.
This week we’re talking presence.
I wasn’t sure if I needed to but I looked up a definition anyway and the dictionary said the state or fact of existing and I thought that was pretty good.
I’m really talking about being there as in being fully there wherever it is that you happen to be.
Whether you enjoy what you’re doing or not, the world would be maybe there when they enjoy it, not there when they don’t.
It might be their presence is required but not something that they chose and so that affects their state of mind.
It’s interesting, probably very similarly used in the world and as Christians but therein lies the challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.
Today’s word comes from Psalm 23 5 that says you prepare feast for me in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
So what that verse says to me about presence as a Christian is location does not matter because the person of Jesus is who’s preparing us for the presence where we are.
It also says that circumstance doesn’t matter because we are filled with the Holy Spirit to have a presence wherever he has placed us.
So we are always filled with the Holy Spirit so we can be fully present just as he is in our lives and it makes us look at things differently.
If we don’t necessarily want to be there maybe we look for an opportunity to serve God in that presence circumstance.
If we want to be there we look at ways to honor God in our presence in that circumstance.
No matter what we do our presence should be fully there no matter where we are no matter who we’re with we should live life full and what does that look like it looks like a life of joy it looks like a life of purpose it looks like a life that draws people like a magnet to Jesus Christ because without him our presence is going to be worldly it’s going to be dictated by our thoughts it’s going to be dictated by our circumstance it’s going to be dictated by our location but because we are full of the Holy Spirit our presence gets to be one of peace joy love participation giving you know the list could potentially go on but my mind’s running a little blank but the idea is the same he has given us his Holy Spirit to live in us the presence which never departs to allow us to be present wherever he places us in whatever moment until next week this is Joel from the I’m talking microcast
