Episode 414: I’m Talkin…Enthusiastically
I’m Talkin, episode 414 for March 22, 2026.
This is Joel from the I’m Talkin microcast, where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week.
This week, we’re talking enthusiastically.
Well, I’ll try to talk enthusiastically anyway.
Well, I looked up the definition, and the one that I really liked, it said, intense and eager enjoyment.
And I think that really hits the nail on the head, and I’m thinking how we use that word in the world these days.
And sometimes it might be in our approach to life.
Some people just have that desire, that drive, that enthusiastic lifestyle.
Sometimes it’s driven by sport, and people’s love of a team, or maybe a school they went to, especially in this March Madness time of the year.
Sometimes it might be a hobby, something you enjoy doing, and you look forward to doing that.
And therein lies the challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.
Today’s word comes from Romans 12, verse 11, that says, don’t be lazy, work hard, and serve the Lord enthusiastically.
The first thing the verse says is don’t be lazy.
So you can’t be enthusiastic if you’re lazy.
It just doesn’t happen.
And then the next thing it says is to work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.
And so the idea there is that actually takes some effort, some work on our part.
And you know, the fact is that if we are unwilling to serve the Lord enthusiastically as Christians, if we walk around with the sour look on our face, if we are, I don’t know, put out because we have to spend an extra minute at church or we have to prepare something for a small group or whatever it may be, if we do not approach our service of our loving God with an enthusiastic manner, why would people be interested in what we have?
Why would people be interested in a God who we don’t serve enthusiastically?
The fact that we can do that because he loves us so much, because he sacrificed for us so much, because of all he’s done for us, that the little we get to do in service of him, we get to do enthusiastically so that we can draw all people to Jesus Christ.
Until next week, this is Joel from the I’m Talking Microcast.
