Episode 416: I’m Talkin…Whatever
I’m Talkin’, episode 416 for April 5th, 2026.
This is Joel from the I’m Talkin’ microcast, where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week.
This week, we’re talking whatever.
When I thought of the word whatever, I was thinking we kind of know what that means, but I looked up a definition anyway, and I really liked it.
It said lack of restriction, and I really liked that definition.
We’ll come back to that in a little bit.
In today’s world, when we hear the word whatever, it’s often used in sarcasm as, you know, whatever, someone’s making fun of something you did, and you’re like, yeah, whatever.
Or maybe it’s like indecision, and like, what do you want to do?
Well, whatever is fine with me.
But I think that the word is rarely used as defined by the lack of restriction, and therein lies the challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.
Today’s word comes from 1 Corinthians 10, verse 31, that says, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
In this verse, the use of whatever is using it strictly as defined, with no restrictions.
Doesn’t matter what we are doing.
It doesn’t matter what our activity is, what our action is.
It talks about two very basic things, whether you eat or drink, things we do all the time, but it says, whatever you do.
And so the restriction is gone at that point.
It is talking about every single thing that you do.
And why is that?
Because it’s important to recognize that what we do as Christians means something to what people see about our God.
And whatever we do brings glory to God, then we are acting in a way that will draw people to Jesus Christ.
And that is, that’s the essence of Easter at this point, because we have such a great story to tell.
So whatever we do, no restrictions on the definition of whatever those actions are, we do it all to bring God glory.
Until next week, this is Joel from the I’m Talkin’ microcast.
