Episode 421: I’m Talkin…Understand
I’m Talkin, episode 421 for May 10th, 2026.This is Joel from the I’m Talkin microcast, where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week. This week, we’re talking understand. When we don’t understand things, we can create a lot of issues. There’s much in the realm of miscommunication that causes strife and people being upset and arguments and even, you know, separations and all kinds of things because we don’t understand a situation.
Maybe our sources are bad, or maybe it’s a topic that we just don’t know how to grasp and it’s above our heads, or we just don’t understand it.
And so that can create problems as well.
And it is something that is a relatable word in how we relate to other people, how we relate to situations, how we relate to words, concepts, ideas.
All in all, it is a challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.
Today’s word comes from Ephesians 5 verses 15 through 17 that says, Be careful how you live.
Don’t live as fools, but as those who are wise.
Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.
Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
As is always the case when we’re looking at what we are to understand, the source is important.
And in the scriptures, the source is God.
And so it says we are to understand what the Lord wants us to do.
So the verse is talking about doing good.
It’s talking about doing right.
It’s talking about making opportunities.
Not 100% sure what it means about the days being evil.
But it also talks about not acting thoughtlessly.
And so those are our concepts that we have to understand what we are to do with those.
And it says at the end, understand what the Lord wants you to do.
And so when we have the power of the Holy Spirit, we get to meet that challenge head on because we aren’t trying to do this in our own power.
And so we get to do good, do right.
We get to make opportunities.
We need to be able to act with thought and make sure as we talked about last week that we love people.
And it’s such an enriching life to understand what God wants us to do, that it is beyond belief that he speaks to us so directly through his word.
Until next week, this is Joel from the I’m Talking microcast.
