Episode 428: I’m Talkin…Build
I’m Talking, episode 428 for June 28th, 2026.
This is Joel from the I’m Talking microcast, where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week.
This week, we’re talking build.
Build is a great word.
It really has the connotation of constructing something, of maybe even something that is lasting.
It can be in the form of building relationships.
It can be the form of building a career or building a physical thing, a building or something like that.
And the fact is that most of us enjoy the process of build.
Sometimes it’s hard work, but there’s always a satisfaction that we get when we see the work of our own hands or the results of something that we have done.
And it kind of gives us a pride in what we’ve been able to accomplish.
And therein lies the challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.
Today’s word comes from Jude 1, verses 20 and 21 that says, But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith.
Pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life.
In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.
This is a powerful verse, and it talks about the fact that we need to have each other’s back.
It’s a directed verse of action.
It says, this is what you need to do.
It says, build each other up in your most holy faith.
So this is saying, this is the foundation of who we are as Christians, our faith in Jesus Christ.
And it says, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit.
That’s so awesome that through prayer, we get to build this relationship with other Christians.
And the foundation that we do that on is Jesus Christ.
It says, await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life.
Now, we already have eternal life because that happens in a moment.
But we see that that is available to us through what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross.
And the result, if we do these things, if we build each other up in our most holy faith, if we pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, if we await the mercy of Jesus Christ, then what does it say we get?
In this way, we keep ourselves safe in God’s love.
What an awesome promise that God has given us in these verses.
Until next week, this is Joel from the I’m Talking microcast.
