Episode 429: I’m Talkin…Safe
I’m talking episode 429 for July 5th, 2026.
This is Joel from the I’m Talking microcast, where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week.
This week, we’re talking safe.
Safe is a very common word.
Today, I’m not talking about like where you might keep your valuables, but I’m talking about a feeling that you get.
I think everyone is looking to have some form of safe feeling, some way that you kind of feel protected, and maybe you feel secure.
Maybe there’s a stability that goes with that.
I think it’s something that the world is looking for in a world that really does not provide that on the regular basis.
They may be looking for that in relationship.
They may be looking for that in family.
They may be looking for that in friends and other places.
And therein lies the challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.
Today’s verse comes from Jude 1, verses 20 and 21 that says, But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith.
Pray in the power of the Holy Spirit and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life.
In this way, you will keep yourself safe in God’s love.
I know this is the same set of verses that I used last week, but I just like the two words build and safe, and so I thought I would come back to this.
And in these verses, it gives us actions to take.
It talks about building each other up, and I talked about that last week.
It talks about praying in the power of the Holy Spirit.
It talks about the fact that Jesus Christ provides for us the path to eternal life because of what he did for us on the cross.
And then it ends with, In this way, you will keep yourself safe in God’s love.
What does that mean, safe in God’s love?
Well, the thing is that God is a place of safety for Christians.
He has provided a way for us to live secure, to live protected, to live stable, and he’s provided this in an eternal way.
So there’s never a time where we need to feel like we are not safe.
If we have Jesus Christ and he has given us eternal life, in this way, we will be kept safe in God’s love.
And that is a promise from the Holy Scripture.
And that is a promise not based on what we are doing, but the fact that we have asked Jesus Christ to save us and to give us eternal life.
And we are safe in the palm of the hands of our God.
No one can touch us.
Until next week, this is Joel from the I’m Talkin' Microcast.
