Episode 438: I’m Talkin…Duty
I’m Talkin’, episode 438 for September 6th, 2026.
This is Joel from the I’m Talkin’ Microcast, where I share my thoughts on a topic that has piqued my interest this past week.
This week we’re talking duty.
When one thinks of the word duty, it really brings to mind like somebody with character who is dependable, dependable, and they understand responsibility, and they understand that there are things that they have to do.
There are things that are on them because of a position, because of a person, because of a relationship, and there’s a duty that they must take care of.
And we understand that, and we hope people will be people of character, people of dependability, and people of responsibility.
And therein lies the challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.
Today’s word comes from Ecclesiastes chapter 12, verses 13 and 14, that says, That is the whole story.
Now here is my final conclusion: fear God and obey his commandments, for that is the duty of everyone.
God will judge us for everything we do, even the secret things, whether good or bad.
The writer of Ecclesiastes is kind of looking for purpose as you read through that book, and he says, Look, I’ve reached the end of the story, and this is what I know.
I know that fearing God is everyone’s duty.
It’s to obey God and to follow him.
That is the duty of everyone.
Those people who don’t do that are going to go and face the judgment of God, and they will stand before a holy God.
And it doesn’t matter what they’ve done, if they think it’s hidden, if they think it’s secret, God will judge us for what we do.
So what do we do in the face of that judgment?
Well, the writer of Ecclesiastes says, Fear God.
That’s a respect.
That’s a holy respect of a holy God, and do his commands.
Until next week, this is Joel from the I’m Talkin’ Microcast.
