Episode 445: I’m Talkin…Causes
I’m talking.
Episode 445 for October 25, 2026.
This is Joel from the I’m Talking microcast, where I share my thoughts on the topic that has piqued my interest this past week.
This week, we’re talking causes.
When we think of the word causes, it’s really a relational thing.
It’s like this activity causes, or action causes this reaction, or this some kind of event causes this kind of follow-on event.
And so you may think about weather and the causes for weather, or maybe the causes for accidents on a freeway, or maybe the causes for certain things that happen in your life.
And then we want to blame, and we wonder who’s in control.
And therein lies the challenge for those of us who call ourselves Christians.
Today’s word comes from Romans 8, verse 28, that says, And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
So what we see in this verse is that God is the cause.
It says that God causes.
And the other thing that’s interesting is it says, We already know that, because we believe in a God who is sovereign over everything.
He already knows what’s going to happen, and he’s on the side of his children.
He is thinking about the welfare and benefit of his children.
It doesn’t mean things are always going to go exactly as you planned, but it’s God causes everything to work together for good.
So we might not see it immediately.
It may be something that happens in the future.
But for those of us who are called, who love God, and we are in accordance with his purpose for us, we will see that the things that happen God uses for the better.
And he calls it causes everything to work together for the good.
And so that good is our benefit.
That good is for us.
And sometimes we don’t understand it because God’s ways are higher than our ways.
But the one thing we always know is that God is in the works.
Nothing surprises him.
Nothing takes him by surprise.
Nothing is happening without his knowledge, without his say-so.
And we can lean on the fact that God is the cause.
Until next week, this is Joel from the I’m Talking microcast.
